Our Investment Philosophy

Effective investment management can be thought of in different ways. At Principal & Prosper we believe our approach to investment is about managing risk and embracing opportunity.

In order to manage risk you need to decide how much risk you are willing to take; your risk appetite. Whilst we can take steps to mitigate the different types of risk which may act on your portfolio, there will always be times when things do not go as well as we would like them to.

For this reason we believe that the most important aspect of managing risk is about finding what you are comfortable with and making sure that what we do meets with your needs. Rather than asking you a range of different questions, we will demonstrate various scenarios and discuss openly with you what might happen to an investment.

We will always work with you to make sure that your attitude to risk is accurately reflected in what we do, based on your feelings about investment risk rather than on what a survey says is your attitude to risk.

Risk is not for everyone, but for those who are prepared to take a degree of risk in their investments there are plenty of opportunities to consider, all with varying degrees of volatility, return and complexity.

Once we have worked out how much risk you are willing to accept and your capacity for investment fluctuations or loss then we can think about managing that risk. We believe in managing risk through diversification of your capital across a range of different types of investment, using an asset allocation model based on your established attitude to risk. We also offer the opportunity to invest ethically.

We will monitor the range of investments we have established so that you know what is going on and recommend to you any changes we think you should be making.
